water smells like sulfur

my water smells like sulfur and ive been doing water changes twice a wk what makes it smell like that

figured it out it was the substrate that i used smells gone now

What kind of substrate did you use? I vacuum the gravel a lot but I know some planted tanks you can't do that.

i have pool filter sand as substrate but the smell is gone now....but a new problem has arised my water turns brown after sitting awhile in my tank i think i have it narrowed down tho if i let my tap water sit a while in a 5 gallon bucket it turns brown so i am going to try the distilled water and see what that does

Did you use pool sand, I bet it is the city water, try some roi or get culligan, city water in Duncan is bad. Do you have enough flow? are you running carbon?
