Canary Blennies, equipped with venomous fangs to defend themselves, graze on plankton and spend little time hiding. Avoid putting your hands in the aquarium with this fish as it prefers to swim in the water column and delivers a painful bite. Canary Blennies are considered to be reef safe. Unless attempting to form a mated pair, put only single speciments of this species in an aquarium. The charming and bold Canary Blenny adds interest to an aquarium with its usually bright yellow coloration. In tanks containing live rock, Canary Blennies naturally grazing as they would in the wild. This provides them with an important part of their diet. The mature Canary Blenny reach approximately 4 inches (10 centimeters) in length. Its two small, protruding, pointed canine teeth, give it a fanged appearance. These teeth are associated with venom glands. |
